Pastel Project

Pastel Project
The Pastel Still-life project was drawn with colorful pastel chalk. Each student had to bring in between 3-5 objects. I decided to bring in 3 soda cans to draw. At first, you had to draw a thumbnail sketch in your sketchbook of different ways you could lay out your items to draw. A thumbnail sketch is a small quick sketch that records ideas and information for a final work of art. Once you started the drawing on the final paper, each day you would draw one item. To begin drawing the item, you would outline it in white chalk first and then color over it and inside of the white chalk. In order to make the items look three dimensional,  you would need to use a various amounts of shading and tinting. You would also need to blend the pastel's with the colors around. There needed to be a light source on this project. This meant that the artist made it look like there was a source of light shining on your artwork so that one side of your artwork was a lighter shade of the colors and the other side was a darker shade of colors.
